Hi krlo

Adjectives and adverbs have NO genders. STOP putting genders behind adjectives and adverbs.
Also stop changing correct entries made by other users. It's getting annoying!

Hi Vamaris,

sorry to have annoyed you, it wasn't my intention. Please, no need to use caps lock, I can read, okay? Also, no need for a message this rude. Please keep in mind we're all trying our best. We're all here contributing voluntarily.

As I mentioned in some of my comments to you, there are no rules for or against in guidelines relating to this issue of genders for adjectives and adverbs. From my PoV, I consider them separate words. In my mind, I was thinking of a foreigner using Croatian-English dictionary who would want to know how to use genders in the Croatian language appropriately. I think I am going to ask Paul about this and get back to you in this regard.

Also, I want to extend to you the same request you gave to me - stop correcting correct translations, there is often more than one way to translate a word and if you think of another translation, then submit it yourself, okay?

I hope when we clear these things out, we can continue without animosity and annoyance since there are not that many people working on a Croatian-English dictionary to begin with.

Best,
krlo

krlo: Please see section 7 at https://enhr.contribute.dict.cc/guidelines/:
[...] gender tags [...] should only be used with nouns.
vamaris: Please don't be rude.

Hi krlo,

I used caps to emphasize the problem, not to be rude. I commented on every entry you added genders to adjectives, adverbs etc. Since there was no reaction from you, on the contrary, you continued to add genders where they do not belong, I wrote you these lines. You also changed correct entries, which is wrong. Such actions also infringe guidelines and annoy people for a good reason.

It is your duty to acquaint yourself with all applicable guidelines on this page and apply them. You signed up only three days ago and we already have a situation. Guess why. I really hope you'll stop making unnecessary additions here and stop changing correct entries, which I deleted by the way. I deleted my own correct entries because of you. Thank you for that!

Your wrong entries will be corrected by me and/or other people here. I have seen your entries, the ones in the English dictionary, which are of better quality than those in the German one, but still there's entries which needed correction, some of them were completely wrong (nobody's perfect, neither am I). There wasn't one entry of mine that needed correction. So you telling me that I shall stop doing what you do to my entries makes absolutely no sense.

I've been here since 2012 and I've contributed a lot to this page. Pay at least a little respect before you react like that after three days for having been told things in order to avoid a total mess here and for not paying attention to comments made.

Also, you won't blackmail me with words like "since there are not that many people working on a Croatian-English dictionary". If you don't start trouble, no trouble will occur. But if you can't stand people telling you things that need to be told or have your wrong entries corrected, that's your problem, not mine.

Make correct entries, do not change correct entries and don't add unnecessary stuff and there will be no trouble at all.

And last but not least: Please remove all those gender adds you made. They are still there. Plenty of them.

Vamaris,

You are still being very rude. Please stop being so aggressive. Your seniority at this site does not grant you the right to be rude to the newcomers. Please don't read into what is not there.

My German translations come from the double translation in a build-up section. Most of them I did last night. Since you corrected many of them, I decided to stay away from German translation from now on since indeed my German is weaker than my English.

"Since there was no reaction from you" - man, I am not here 24 hours, I addressed every issue that I saw. You can also see that either in my comments or that I deleted some of my inputs or that I accepted your correction. I am not against correction by you or other people, I am just against your very rude and impatient comments. And now your very passive-aggressive comeback. I don't want to waste my time arguing with you, when I could spend my free time contributing to the content.

I am sorry I corrected some of your entries, as I explained in my previous message, I did it with my best intentions. I did read the guidelines, but my interpretation of them was obviously different than yours. Why do you need to react so aggressively to a mistake made by a person who just joined the community? All of the things you said to me could have been said in a much nicer, non-confrontational way.

You corrected several of my entries that did not need correction, too. For example, you corrected "praonica auta" to "autopraonica". And "zapečeno" with "prepečeno". There was absolutely no need for these corrections, as my inputs are still correct and valid (as per rule 2 in the Guideline).

"Also, you won't blackmail me with words like "since there are not that many people working on a Croatian-English dictionary". If you don't start trouble, no trouble will occur. But if you can't stand people telling you things that need to be told or have your wrong entries corrected, that's your problem, not mine. Make correct entries, do not change correct entries and don't add unnecessary stuff and there will be no trouble at all." --> How in the fresh hell did you interpret my message in this way? First of all, this sounds threatening. Please don't threat me. Second, I wasn't blackmailing you. I was pointing this out so you remember that we are all here to contribute (voluntarily) and not in great numbers, so the progress is slow. Therefore, the more people come aboard, the better for the EU-HR dictionary, right?

I am asking you again, let's stop arguing and start collaborating.

Best,
krlo

krlo,

I am not rude. How can you tell I am rude? Did I call you names? No. Did I point one thing out which isn't/wasn't a fact? No. Am I rude for having wrote two words in caps? No. I have said it all in my previous answer to you and I won't get into any more discussions here. So read the guidelines, apply them and don't do the things you did and there shall be no trouble here. It's that simple.

As for the zapečeno/prepečeno, if you don't know the difference between the two, then again this is your problem, not mine. I won't vote for false entries nor will I leave them there for people who might not know the difference and vote for it anyway. The same goes for other entries. Autopraonica or autopraona is the correct term for what you're addressing, it's not praonica auta. It's merely a synonym at best. See where this is going?

This is my last response here. If you want to collaborate, then let actions speak instead of words and we got words here because actions weren't right in the first place.

Vamaris, in my opinion you are being rude, and not for the first time. People can be rude without calling names. Please treat newcomers with a little more patience and goodwill.

You don't have to come to point of throwing insults to be considered rude. Comments like "guess why" and "thank you for that" are very passive-aggressive and, yes, rude.

As for my suggestions, I am a native Croatian and I do know the difference. It's a difference of opinions, and I don't think my suggestions are wrong. You tell me to read the guideline yet you seem to conveniently forget some parts as an excuse for the attack. Let me copy-paste it for you:

3. Several Correct Variants (last updated: 2018-06-07)
RULE OF THUMB
Always confirm the first correct posting!
It only has to be correct. If it's not the best possible version a better translation can be posted as a new entry.
An entry is correct only if it is correct in both form and content, so it can be verified without modification.

FINE PRINT / DETAILS
If the proposed entry is not the most usual translation of an entry, but is not wrong, please vote to confirm it.
In case of several correct variants within an entry under discussion (different votes), vote for the version posted first, unless the only difference to the first version is a clarifying comment in square brackets (this doesn't cause outvotes).*

Please, get off your high horse, because obviously, you are so upset with my actions, that you started deleting and changing things that don't need changing just because they are coming from me. Anyway, do what you want, I will still accept your suggestions if I think they are right, and reject if I think that they are not right. My English is that good, okay? And we will have no trouble :)

Best,
krlo
